🎓 Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

✔ A relevant three-year tertiary qualification in ICT or a related field

✔ At least 3 years of relevant experience in Telecommunications Fibre Networks and Networking

✔ Knowledge of Monitoring, Event, Fault, and Management applications for Fibre/DWDM networks

✔ Experience with network applications and telecom team leadership will be advantageous

✔ A valid Code B driver’s licence

💼 Key Responsibilities

The Senior Technician will play an important role in maintaining and supporting the City’s telecommunications infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

🔧 Leading technical maintenance and repair activities for Switching Facilities and Fibre OSP infrastructure

🔧 Supervising and controlling maintenance of the City’s Fibre and DWDM network systems

🔧 Ensuring accurate as-built network documentation and compliance with SOPs, policies, and safety standards

🔧 Reviewing and interpreting technical network drawings and design plans

🔧 Coordinating daily Fibre and DWDM network maintenance activities

🔧 Supporting project management and operations teams to ensure vendor commitments are met

🔧 Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and contractors
