🌍 About the YES Initiative

Launched in 2018 by the President of South Africa, the Youth Employment Service (YES) is a partnership between government, labour, and the private sector.
Its mission? 👉 Create meaningful workplace experience and economic pathways for South African youth.

💼 What You’ll Be Doing

As a Software Developer Intern, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to real projects while working with experienced developers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in building & maintaining websites and software applications

  • Writing and testing clean, efficient code

  • Supporting both front-end and back-end development

  • Debugging and troubleshooting technical issues

  • Collaborating with the development team using modern tools

✅ Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a South African unemployed youth (18–34 years)

  • NOT have participated in the YES Programme before

  • Have Matric

  • Recently completed a qualification in IT / Software Development

  • Have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • Be familiar with programming languages

  • Understand basics of databases and Git

  • Be eager to learn and grow 🚀
