🛫 Role Overview: First Officer (P2 / P3)

As a First Officer, you will:

  • Ensure the highest safety standards on the ground and in-flight

  • Perform duties as Second-In-Command (P2) or Cruise Relief Pilot (P3)

  • Operate in line with local and international aviation regulations

  • Represent SAA with professionalism across global destinations

🎓 Minimum Qualifications & Experience

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

✔️ Matric / Grade 12 / N3 or relevant SAQA-accredited qualification
✔️ Mathematics or Statistics and English (required symbols apply)
✔️ Physical Science or Computer Science
✔️ Valid ATPL or CPL with completed ATPL ground subjects
✔️ Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
✔️ 1,500 flying hours (including 200 multi-engine hours)
✔️ South African citizen with a valid passport

✈️ Note: A valid ATPL must be obtained within 4 years of employment if not already held.

  • Strong understanding of CAA, ICAO, IATA, FAA & EASA regulations

  • Excellent decision-making & judgement

  • Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced environments

  • High attention to detail and safety compliance

👩‍✈️ Preference will be given to female pilot applicants in line with SAA’s Pilot Employment Equity Plan.
