This is your chance to secure a fully funded bursary from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC).
The DSAC Heritage Bursary Programme 2026 is now open and invites South African undergraduate and postgraduate students to apply for financial support to pursue heritage-related qualifications, including international studies.
💰 What Does the DSAC Bursary Cover?
The bursary offers up to R110 000 per student, paid directly to your institution, covering:
✅ Full tuition fees
✅ Prescribed books (100%)
✅ Laptop / electronic device (up to R10 000)
✅ Accommodation (up to R50 000, where applicable)
✅ Meals (up to R18 500, where applicable)
✅ Transport (up to R10 000, where applicable)
📌 This bursary is designed to remove financial barriers and help you focus fully on your studies.
🎯 Who Can Apply?
You qualify if you meet the following criteria:
✔ South African citizen
✔ 40 years old or younger
✔ Academic average of 65% or higher
✔ Studying heritage-related fields only
✔ Registered or provisionally accepted for 2026
✔ Full-time student
✔ Not receiving another bursary
✔ Household income not exceeding R130 000 per year
⚠️ Applications outside the listed fields of study will be rejected.

Archaeology (Maritime & Underwater Cultural Heritage)
Physical & Biological Anthropology
Heritage & Museum Studies
History
Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)

Digitisation of Heritage Resources
Archives & Records Management
Library & Information Sciences
Geography, GIS & Cartography (Postgraduate focus)
Heritage Conservation & Preservation
Digital Archaeology
International Studies (Heritage-related)
