🔎 About the Role
As an ASSM Development Officer, you’ll support the coordination and formalisation of artisanal and small-scale mining activities. Your work will focus on training delivery, technical support, compliance, sustainability, and project execution—ensuring initiatives are delivered on time and within budget.
You’ll collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and funders while contributing to Mintek’s broader development mandate.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
✔ Support and mentor ASSM section staff
✔ Assist with mineral-related training and consulting projects
✔ Develop and deliver training programmes
✔ Provide technical input into projects and business plans
✔ Prepare professional reports, technical notes, and presentations
✔ Maintain facilities, manage budgets, and oversee compliance (SHEQ)
✔ Engage donors, sponsors, and clients
✔ Conduct inspections, research projects, and performance reporting
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Qualification:
Honours Degree in Sustainable Development or related field
MSc in Development Studies (Natural Resources / ASM) is an advantage
Experience:
3–5 years relevant experience
Training experience in mining & minerals
Project management and business operations exposure
Experience leading or supporting major projects
