🔧 Position: Underground Fitter (C-Lower Grading)

📍 Location: South Deep Gold Mine
📌 Department: Engineering – Horizontal Engineering Logistics

The Underground Fitter plays a key role in maintaining Rail Bound Equipment (RBE), underground infrastructure, and fixed plant equipment such as Bulk Air Coolers and pipe networks — ensuring safety, reliability, and world-class operational performance.

✅ Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12

• Fitter Trade Certificate

• 4+ years experience working with Hydraulics, Pneumatic systems & Battery Loco Maintenance

• Must be medically fit and able to pass the Heat Tolerance Screening

• Attach all relevant certificates to your CV for shortlisting

• Strong safety leadership

• Excellent communication & teamwork skills

• Ability to work under pressure

• Skilled in hydraulic & pneumatic fault finding

• Experience with underground pumping, cooling & safety systems

🛠️ Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of yourself & the team

• Conduct inspections as per the Mine Health & Safety Act

• Perform maintenance on:

  • Locomotives

  • Skid steer loaders

  • Hydraulic systems

  • Pumping assemblies

  • Pipe networks

  • Cooling systems

• Diagnose breakdowns & perform root-cause analysis

• Assist with new installations and expansions

• Identify and book spares

• Be available for overtime & callouts when required
