As a Nuclear Safety Specialist, you will:
🔹 Maintain and update the SAFARI-1 Safety Analysis Report (SAR) and Operating Technical Specifications (OTS)
🔹 Ensure compliance with NNR licensing, IAEA standards, and SAFARI-1 SHEQ procedures
🔹 Lead safety assessments, deterministic & probabilistic analyses
🔹 Support experimental safety processes and documentation
🔹 Provide expert input on core management, reactor design, thermal hydraulics, fuel deviations & safeguards
🔹 Collaborate across engineering, physics, safety, and operations
🔹 Strengthen South Africa’s nuclear safety culture through training, BBS observations & continuous improvement

🎓 Minimum Requirements
✔ MSc/M.Eng (preferably in Nuclear Engineering)
✔ 5+ years’ experience in nuclear safety analysis, core/fuel design & safeguards
✔ Deep knowledge of:
• Reactor operations
• Heat transfer & fluid flow
• Radiation shielding
• Reactor protection systems
✔ Proficiency in nuclear engineering tools (RELAP, MCNP, etc.)
✔ Strong analytical, problem-solving & decision-making abilities
