## **Who Can Apply for the GCRA Bursary?**  

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:  

✅ Be a **South African citizen**  

✅ Have **matriculated and reside in Gauteng**  

✅ Be between the ages of **18 to 35 years**  

✅ Have been **accepted into an accredited Higher Education Institution in South Africa**  

✅ Be studying a **full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme**  

✅ Applicants in the **Financial Assistance** category must be pursuing a **STEM qualification** (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

## **How to Apply for the GCRA Bursary 2025**  

Follow these steps to successfully apply:  

### **Step 1: Get Ready**  

📶 Ensure you have **internet access**  

📧 Use a **valid email address** (this will be your username)  

🆔 Have a **valid South African ID**  

### **Step 2: Register and Create a Profile**  

1. **Sign up online** at **[GCRA Bursary Application Portal]()**  

2. After creating your profile, **log in** with your credentials at **[GCRA Login]()**  

3. Click on the **Application** tab and fill in the required information  

### **Step 3: Choose Your Bursary Type**  

GCRA offers different bursary options based on your academic performance and financial need:  

📌 **Top 3** – For students from no-fee-paying or LSEN (Learners with Special Educational Needs) schools  

📌 **Top Achiever** – For students awarded a certificate by the MEC for Education and Youth Development  

📌 **Financial Assistance** – For students who do not qualify under Top 3 or Top Achiever categories  

📌 **Bursary Renewal** – For students continuing with the same qualification previously funded by GCRA  

📌 **Bursary Reinstatement** – For students who were previously funded by GCRA but had their bursary suspended  

### **Step 4: Submit Your Application**  

✅ Accept the **Terms and Conditions**  

✅ Click **Submit**  

✅ You will receive an **SMS confirmation with a reference number** – Keep this safe!  

✅ You can **edit and resubmit** your application before the deadline

📌 **Certified Matric Certificate or Statement of Results**  

📌 **Acceptance Letter from an Accredited Institution**  

📌 **Proof of Residence** (Municipal bill or letter from Ward Councillor)  

📌 **Motivational Letter** (written by the applicant)  

📌 **Academic Record** (if continuing with undergraduate or postgraduate studies)  

📌 **Certified ID Copies of Both Parents**  

📌 **Certified Salary Advice or Proof of Income for Both Parents**  

📌 **Death Certificate(s)** (if parents are deceased)  

📌 **Affidavit for Single Parents**  

📌 **SASSA Letter or Affidavit for Parents Receiving Social Grants**  

🚨 **Important:**  

✔ All documents must be **certified and not older than 3 months**  

✔ Only **PDF format** is accepted  

✔ The bursary type determines the specific documents required

## **Important Notes & Disclaimers**  

⚠ **Bursary Renewal Age Limit:** If a student **received a bursary at 35**, it **will not be renewed** the following year.  

⚠ **Allowance Payments:** If your institution **cannot claim allowances via invoice**, GCRA **will only cover tuition fees**.  

⚠ **Application Status:** If you **do not receive a response within 2 months after the closing date**, consider your application **unsuccessful**.
