## **Job Details: Field Guide (Fixed-Term Contract)**

- **Location:** Orpen Rest Camp, Kruger National Park  

- **Contract Duration:** Until **31 December 2025**  

- **Closing Date:** **17 February 2025**  

- **Salary Scale:** FTC-B3  

### **Key Responsibilities**  

As a **Field Guide**, you will be responsible for:  

✅ Conducting **basic and intermediate guided activities** for visitors at the camp or gate.  

✅ Organizing and planning guided activities in the absence of the **Senior Field Guide** to ensure smooth operations.  

✅ Handling the **administration of guided activities** at the camp.  

✅ Marketing and promoting guided activities to **increase revenue** for the camp/gate.  

✅ Providing **environmental interpretation and education** to visitors, creating awareness and promoting conservation.

## **Minimum Requirements**  

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:  

### **Educational Qualifications:**  

✔ **Grade 12 (Matric)**  

✔ **CATHSSETA Skills Program NQF Level 2** – Nature Site Guide (TG/NATSITEGD/2/0040)  

✔ **THETA Nature Site Guide** (Dangerous Game Area) – TGD/NSGDGM/4/0037 NQF Level 2 (**View Potentially Dangerous Game certificate** will be an advantage)  

### **Certifications & Licenses:**  

✔ **Valid First Aid Certificate (Level 1 preferred, Level 2 advantageous)**  

✔ **Valid DEAT Registration Card** (Site Guide: Kruger National Park & surrounding areas)  

✔ **Valid C1 Driver’s License (Code 10) with Professional Driving Permit (PDP)**  

✔ **SASSETA Unit Standards:** 123519, 119651 & 117705 certification  

✔ **SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate** (or proof of application from SAPS)  

### **Experience:**  

✔ **At least 1 year of experience in conservation or guiding activities**
