# **Chairperson: RAF IT Steering Committee – Lead IT Governance & Digital Transformation**

 

Are you an experienced IT governance leader looking to make a strategic impact in a public sector organization? The **Road Accident Fund (RAF)** is seeking a highly qualified **Independent External Chairperson** to lead its **IT Steering Committee**, ensuring that IT initiatives align with business objectives and regulatory frameworks.  

This is a **three-year fixed-term independent contract**, reporting directly to the **CEO**, with a minimum of **four meetings per quarter**. If you have a strong background in **IT governance, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture**, this is an opportunity to drive strategic IT decisions at a national level.  

## **Key Responsibilities**  

As the **Independent External Chairperson**, you will:  

- **Provide Strategic Oversight:** Lead and facilitate IT Steering Committee meetings, ensuring discussions align with RAF’s **digital transformation** and **business strategy**.  

- **Ensure IT Governance Compliance:** Oversee adherence to frameworks like **COBIT 2019, ITIL, NIST, TOGAF**, and public sector regulations (**PFMA, Treasury Regulations, King IV**).  

- **Drive Digital Transformation:** Guide the adoption of **AI, data analytics, and enterprise IT solutions** to enhance operational efficiency.  

- **Oversee IT Risk & Cybersecurity:** Ensure compliance with **POPIA, Cybercrimes Act**, and other data protection regulations.  

- **Support Financial & Contract Management:** Provide insights into **IT budgeting, procurement, and cost optimization**.  

- **Facilitate Effective Decision-Making:** Independently guide the IT Steering Committee, ensuring productive discussions and unbiased leadership.  

## **Minimum Job Requirements**  

### **Qualifications:**  

- Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in **Information Technology, Computer Science**, or related field.  

- **MBA in IT Management, Finance, or General Business Management** (advantageous).  

- **Corporate Governance Certificate** from the **Institute of Directors (IoDSA)**.  

- Relevant professional certifications, such as **COBIT, CGEIT, CISM, CISSP, TOGAF, PMP, ITIL** (preferred).  

### **Experience:**  

- **10+ years** in a senior IT leadership role, including **3+ years** as a Chairperson overseeing IT functions.  

- Expertise in **IT governance, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and risk management**.  

- Proven experience with **AI, data analytics**, and integrating technology into business processes.  

- Strong knowledge of **IT budgeting, procurement, and cost management**.  

- Experience working in **public sector/state-owned enterprises (SOEs)** is an advantage.
