### Job Details: Safety Officer (Mining and Construction)  

#### **Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:**  

- **Education:** Grade 12 (Matric) essential.  

- **Driver’s License:** Valid and up to date.  

- **Training:**  

  - SAMTRAC with MHSA Bridging Course or COMSOC I & II (mandatory).  

  - NADSAM Diploma (National Diploma in Safety Management) advantageous.  

- **Criminal Record:** Clear criminal record.  

- **Medical Fitness:** Fit for mine and construction operations (including medicals, induction, and Dover testing).  

- **Computer Literacy:** Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.  

- **Experience:** Minimum of 3 years as a Safety Officer in mining and construction, including surface and underground operations.  

#### **Additional Skills and Experience:**  

- Knowledge of **MHSA, OSHA, COID, and BCEA legal requirements** with enforcement capabilities.  

- Proven track record in safety representation.  

- Strong experience in preparing weekly and monthly site reports.  

- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.  

- Understanding of **Codes of Practice (COPs)**, **Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)**, **Safe Work Procedures (SWPs)**, and **Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)** processes.  

- Ability to develop business processes and work independently without supervision.  

- Knowledge of **Passport 360 systems** and reporting skills.

### Key Responsibilities  

- Ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements.  

- Compile safety statistics and present findings to management and safety committees.  

- Lead safety initiatives and enforce company safety standards.  

- Actively contribute to operational risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

### Location Preference  

Candidates residing in the **John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality** (Kathu, Kuruman, Olifantshoek, Postmasburg, or Danielskuil) will have an advantage.
