- **Job Title:** Community Health Worker (Driver)

- **Main Purpose:** Recruiting and supporting transgender individuals in communities, providing healthcare services, and enhancing access to Wits RHI's clinical services.

## **Key Responsibilities**


### **Community Outreach & Support**  

- Recruit and re-engage transgender individuals, including those who have defaulted on TB or HIV treatment.  

- Provide pre- and post-HIV test counseling.  

- Promote health services such as STI treatments, HCT, and family planning.  

- Distribute condoms and demonstrate correct usage.  

- Conduct health talks and distribute brochures to promote studies and services.  


### **Patient Care & Documentation**  

- Offer adherence counseling for ARV and PrEP programs.  

- Administer health questionnaires and obtain informed consent from participants.  

- Schedule clinic appointments and manage patient records accurately.  

- Ensure proper labeling of specimen samples and file documentation.  


### **Operational Support**  

- Drive the outreach team to community hotspots and manage vehicle operations responsibly.  

- Deliver condoms and materials to transgender hotspots and liaise with community leaders.  

- Assist with Peer Educator administrative tasks, including timesheets and leave forms.  


### **Professional Development & Teamwork**  

- Maintain high productivity and quality standards.  

- Participate in ongoing training and career development.  

- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining confidentiality.

## **Qualifications and Experience**


### **Minimum Requirements**  

- **Education:** Grade 12.  

- **License:** Valid driver’s license.  

- **Languages:** Fluent in English and at least one African language.  

- **Experience:** Minimum of 6 months as a Peer Educator working in communities.  


### **Desirable Skills & Attributes**  

- Basic knowledge of HIV education and counseling.  

- Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.  

- Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office.  

- Respectful, tactful, and capable of maintaining confidentiality.  

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
