**Northern Park Primary School** is seeking applications for the position of **Social Worker** within our School Governing Body. As an integral part of our school community, the selected candidate will play a crucial role in addressing the emotional, social, and behavioural needs of our students, fostering an environment where every child can succeed academically and socially.

### **About the Role:**

As a **School Social Worker**, you will provide essential support to students, staff, and families, helping to resolve challenges that may affect students’ academic performance and social well-being. Your efforts will be pivotal in promoting a safe, inclusive environment where all students feel supported and valued.

### **Key Responsibilities:**

- **Counseling and Support**: Provide individual and group counseling for students facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges.

- **Collaboration**: Work closely with teachers, parents, and school leadership to develop personalized support plans for students.

- **Crisis Intervention**: Offer immediate support in crisis situations and refer students to external services when needed.

- **Mental Health Advocacy**: Promote mental health awareness and implement preventative initiatives to enhance students’ well-being.

- **Inclusive Environment**: Help create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages personal and academic growth for all students.

### **Key Qualifications:**

- **Academic Requirements**: A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with Honours (NQF Level 8).

- **Language Proficiency**: Fluent in reading, speaking, and writing in both **English and isiZulu**.

- **Experience**: Preferably with experience working in a school setting or with children and adolescents.

- **Skills**: Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. A compassionate and patient approach to working with children.

- **Registration**: Must be registered with the **South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)**.

- **Clearance**: Must be cleared against the Child Protection and Sexual Offences Registers.
