# Railway Safety Regulator Bursaries for 2025: Empowering Future Leaders in Rail Safety

## About the Railway Safety Regulator  

The RSR is a public entity established under Section 4 of the **National Railway Safety Regulator Act No. 16 of 2002** (as amended). Its primary mandate is to oversee and enforce safety across all railway operations in South Africa, including those from neighboring states.  


Through this bursary program, the RSR is committed to empowering young minds in diverse fields, ensuring South Africa remains on track toward innovation and excellence.

## Fields of Study  

The bursary is open to South African school leavers and students aged 15–35 years pursuing or intending to pursue undergraduate studies at recognized and accredited institutions, including TVET Colleges, Universities of Technology, and Private/Public Universities.

- **Engineering**: Electrical, Civil, and Mechanical  

- **Information Technology**  

- **Human Resources Management**  

- **Media and Communications**  

- **Law**  

- **Financial Management**

## Who Can Apply?  


### **Eligibility Criteria**:  

- Must be a South African citizen aged 15–35 years.  

- Must not receive funding from another institution or organization.  

- Must be available for interviews when requested.  

- Must provide proof of registration/admission at a recognized institution.  

- For first-year applicants, a minimum average of **65%** in Grade 11 or mid-term Grade 12 results is required.  

- Current tertiary students must provide an academic record with a minimum average of **65%** for the current year.

To apply, submit the following supporting documents:  

1. **Completed External Bursary Application Form** (available at [www.rsr.org.za/careers](http://www.rsr.org.za/careers)).  

2. Certified copy of admission/registration letter for the 2025 academic year.  

3. Certified copy of your latest academic record or Grade 11/mid-term Grade 12 results.  

4. Certified copy of your South African ID.  

5. **Motivational letter** explaining why you deserve the bursary.  

6. A quotation for the academic year’s tuition fees.

- **Application Deadline**: **17 January 2025**  

- **Submission**: Applications must be completed and submitted by the deadline. **Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.**  

- **Emailed applications will not be accepted.**
