**Promotion Requirements to the Next Level for All Returning Students: Tshwane North TVET College**

Tshwane North TVET College (TNC) has introduced important updates to its admission policy regarding progression to the next academic level for returning students. If you are currently enrolled in the National Certificate Vocational (NC(V)) or Report 191 (Nated) Engineering and Business Studies, it is crucial to understand these revised guidelines for a smooth progression.

### Report 191 (Nated Programmes): Key Points to Remember

For students enrolled in **Nated Engineering** and **Business Studies**, the following progression requirements must be met to advance to the next level:

1. **Pass All Subjects:**

To progress to the next level, students must pass all four subjects in their current Nated Engineering or Business Studies program.

2. **Failure Means Repetition:**

If a student fails one or more subjects, they must repeat the failed subject(s) at the same level before moving to the next level.

3. **Class Attendance Requirement:**

Attendance is crucial! To comply with the policy, students must maintain at least 80% class attendance.

4. **Afternoon Classes for Repeaters:**

Students repeating subjects will attend afternoon classes to ensure they meet the required attendance.

5. **NSFAS Funding:**

Financial assistance through NSFAS will be paused during the period when a student repeats their subject(s). Students will need to reapply for funding, provided they are eligible.

6. **Maximum Duration:**

   - The maximum duration for **Nated Engineering** is **four trimesters**.

   - The maximum duration for **Nated Business Studies** is **four semesters** (the N+ rule).

7. **Reapplication After N+ Rule:**

Students who fall outside the N+ rule (maximum duration) will be blocked from progressing. They will need to reapply to the college for admission.

8. **Financial Implications:**

If re-admitted, students will pay **100% tuition fees per subject** as per the National Norms and Standards for funding TVET Colleges.

### National Certificate Vocational (NC(V)): Key Points to Remember

For students enrolled in the **National Certificate Vocational (NC(V))**, these progression guidelines apply:

1. **Pass All 7 Subjects:**

To progress to the next level, students must pass all 7 subjects in their NC(V) program.

2. **Failure Means Repetition:**

Similar to the Nated programs, students who fail one or more subjects must repeat them at the same level.

3. **Class Attendance:**

Students must achieve at least **80% attendance** to comply with policy requirements.

4. **Full-Time Classes for Repeaters:**

NC(V) students who are repeating any subjects will attend **full-time classes** due to the Integrated Continuous Assessment (ICASS) requirements.

5. **NSFAS Funding Impact:**

NSFAS will stop financial assistance for the period when a student repeats subjects. Students must reapply for funding, provided they are still eligible.

6. **Maximum Duration:**

   - The maximum duration for NC(V) students is **four years**.

   - For **SNE students** enrolled in NC(V), the maximum duration is **five years** (the N+ rule).

7. **Reapplication After N+ Rule:**

Students who exceed the maximum duration will be blocked from progressing and will need to reapply for admission.

8. **Financial Implications:**

Similar to Nated students, if re-admitted, students will pay **100% tuition fees per subject** as per the National Norms and Standards for funding TVET Colleges.

### How These Changes Affect You

- **Staying on Track:**

Meeting the academic requirements and maintaining attendance will ensure your progression to the next level without delays.

- **NSFAS Considerations:**

Be aware that repeating subjects could affect your financial assistance, so plan accordingly and reapply for NSFAS funding if necessary.

- **Adherence to the N+ Rule:**

Make sure to stay within the prescribed duration for your program. Falling outside the N+ rule could require you to reapply for admission and pay full tuition fees.
