**Location:** Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa
**Salary:** R16,613.95 per month
**Contract Duration:** 3 Months

### **Key Responsibilities**
As a General Tour Guide, your role will involve:
- Preparing for tours by analyzing rosters, verifying vehicle availability, and ensuring equipment readiness.
- Welcoming tourists at the harbour and accommodating special needs (e.g., wheelchairs or prams).
- Leading tours and sharing insightful narratives about:
- Robben Island’s political history.
- Marine history and the natural environment.
- Historical buildings and geographical information.
- Managing stops and coordinating transitions to Prison Guides.
- Conducting research to enhance tour content using resources like newspapers, videos, and policies.
- Collaborating with peers and participating in training sessions to refine tour material.
- Handling general administrative duties.
### **Qualifications and Skills Required**
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- Registration as a Tour Guide.
- A diploma/degree in **Tourism**, **History**, **Social Sciences**, or a related field.
- A valid **First Aid Certificate**.
- At least **2 years of relevant experience**.
- Fluency in **English** and at least one other official South African language.
- A strong understanding of South African and global political history, current events, and tourism heritage.
- Proficiency in a foreign language (advantageous).
