### **Position Overview**  

We are seeking a **Senior HR Officer (Occupational Health & Safety)** to join our dynamic team on a temporary basis. This position will focus on ensuring compliance with OHS policies, managing workplace safety, and enhancing employee wellness.

### **Key Responsibilities**  


#### **Occupational Health & Safety (OHS):**  

- Develop and implement OHS policies and procedures.  

- Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification.  

- Facilitate OHS training programs for employees.  

- Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.  

- Prepare accident investigation reports and maintain a record of injuries and diseases.  

- Ensure compliance with OHS legislation and regulations.  

- Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety excellence.  

- Monitor and report OHS performance metrics.  


#### **Compliance and Reporting:**  

- Report all Section 24 incidents to the Department of Employment and Labour.  

- Manage COIDA claims and liaise with relevant stakeholders.  

- Accompany inspectors during workplace inspections.  


#### **HR and Wellness Contributions:**  

- Advise management on medical and incapacity cases.  

- Mentor HR professionals and contribute to workforce planning.  

- Support the municipality’s service delivery goals through strategic HR management.

### **Minimum Requirements**  

- **Education:**  

  - A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management or Occupational Health and Safety.  


- **Experience:**  

  - At least 5 years of OHS-related experience.  

  - Familiarity with statutory processes and legislation related to OHS and COIDA.  


- **Skills:**  

  - Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  

  - Strong written and oral communication skills.  

  - Fluency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.  


- **Other Requirements:**  

  - Valid Code B driver’s license.  

  - Comprehensive knowledge of municipal functions and legislation.
