Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is seeking a **Bio-Aquatic Specialist** to manage and conserve watercourses, wetlands, and aquatic biodiversity areas. This role focuses on preserving and enhancing both flora and fauna to protect and sustain the City of Johannesburg's rich biodiversity.

## **Job Responsibilities**
As a Bio-Aquatic Specialist, you will:
- **Preserve and manage aquatic diversity:**
Conduct biomonitoring and water quality assessments for rivers, dams, lakes, ponds, canals, and wetlands.
- **Enhance biodiversity:**
Monitor aquatic life, including fish and macroinvertebrates, assess toxicity, and conduct general biodiversity evaluations.
- **Maintain and rehabilitate ecosystems:**
Implement maintenance and rehabilitation plans for rivers, wetlands, and watercourses.
- **Develop partnerships:**
Collaborate with key stakeholders such as SANBI, GDARD, CoJ, JW, and JRA for effective implementation.
- **Supervise teams:**
Manage team performance, develop policies, and ensure adherence to SHEQ standards.
- **Promote environmental awareness:**
Educate the public and contribute to biodiversity and conservation management best practices.

## **Minimum Job Requirements**
- **Education:**
- BSc Degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences, or Conservation Management.
- **Training:**
- Proficient in identifying alien invasive plants.
- **Experience:**
- Minimum of 3 years in Natural Sciences, Conservation, or Environmental Management.
