- **Work Hours:** Part-time, 25 hours per week  

- **Contract Duration:** 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability  

- **Annual Salary:** R161,602.66 – R296,630.00 (Cost to Company)  


## **Introduction**  

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Cape Town (UCT) invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant within the Pathology/Medical Virology Department. This role supports the C Williamson and M-R Abrahams research teams by providing administrative and secretarial assistance to ensure smooth operations. The successful candidate will be pivotal in managing administrative processes and supporting research activities.

## **Key Responsibilities**  

- **Administrative and Secretarial Support**:  

  - Assist staff and students with research administration.  

  - Provide administrative assistance to the Line Manager(s).  

  - Manage administrative tasks in accordance with UCT procedures.  


- **Finance and HR Processes**:  

  - Compile Purchase Order Requests, Journals, and Remittances.  

  - Submit documentation via the UCT platform and liaise with the Accounts Department.  

  - Track and facilitate the signing and submission of financial and HR forms.  


- **Research Support**:  

  - Assist students with university administrative requirements.  

  - Maintain and organize research-related documentation.  


- **Procurement**:  

  - Manage Purchase Card transactions and compile necessary documentation.

## **Required Qualifications and Experience**  

- **Minimum Requirements**:  

  - Matric Certificate (NQF Level 4).  

  - At least 3 years’ experience as a Personal/Administrative Assistant.  

  - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).  

  - Minimum 1-year experience working in a higher education or academic environment.  


- **Preferred Experience**:  

  - Familiarity with UCT administrative forms and processes (Finance and HR).
