### **Role Overview: Primary Years Programme Coordinator**

**Position Summary**  

The PYP Coordinator is an essential member of Crawford’s pedagogical leadership team, responsible for guiding staff and students through the transformative PYP curriculum. This role includes comprehensive collaboration on curriculum planning, professional development, resource management, and program implementation to ensure alignment with the **IB Standards and Practices**.

**Core Responsibilities of the PYP Coordinator**

#### **1. Communication & Community Engagement**

- Disseminate IB updates, guidelines, and program progress to staff, leadership, and the wider community.

- Lead parent sessions on the PYP curriculum to foster a well-informed community.

- Regularly publish articles on the PYP for the school’s newsletter and online channels.

- Act as a liaison between Crawford International, the ADVTECH group, and the IB, ensuring adherence to all program standards.

- Promote international-mindedness across all school activities.

#### **2. Professional Development & Staff Support**

- Encourage ongoing professional growth, guiding staff on relevant PYP training and development opportunities.

- Support and induct new staff, helping them navigate the PYP framework.

- Organize and track PYP workshops to ensure equitable access for all team members.

- Assist staff in creating cohesive Units of Inquiry and advise on best practices in inquiry-based learning.

#### **3. Resource Management & Digital Integration**

- Manage the PYP program budget in collaboration with the Principal and Deputy Principal.

- Oversee the acquisition of resources aligned with the PYP goals and digital integration strategies.

- Encourage the use of community resources to enrich the PYP learning experience.

#### **4. Documentation & Curriculum Coordination**

- Regularly update and share the school’s Programme of Inquiry, facilitating a well-coordinated curriculum.

- Oversee horizontal and vertical curriculum articulation, ensuring alignment across year levels and subjects.

- Lead the school’s documentation process, maintaining accessible records for ongoing staff reference.

- Assist in updating reporting formats to reflect both IB and DBE standards.

#### **5. Program Implementation & Teacher Support**

- Facilitate weekly teacher planning and strategy sessions, ensuring a cohesive approach to inquiry-based learning.

- Monitor curriculum coverage and coordinate with curriculum teams to address school needs.

- Support teachers in integrating digital technologies into their lessons, enhancing student engagement and inquiry.

### **Requirements**

**Educational Background:**

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education

- Experience in a school-wide curriculum role

**Experience:**

- **Minimum 5+ years** in teaching and learning with leadership roles in school management

- Prior experience in the **IB** and/or **PYP programs** is essential
