**Job Opportunity: Web and Digital Editor at the University of Cape Town (Faculty of Health Sciences)**

 


The University of Cape Town (UCT) invites applications for the role of **Web and Digital Editor** within the **Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS)**. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a creative and technically skilled individual to take charge of the Faculty's online presence, contributing to the development and management of digital platforms, website content, and social media marketing.


### **Position Overview**


As part of the Faculty’s Communications and Marketing Department, the **Web and Digital Editor** will be responsible for overseeing the FHS corporate website and its associated digital platforms. The key responsibilities include managing the website copy, social media marketing campaigns, digital communications (including bulk emails), and providing mid-level graphic design support. This role will also involve evaluating and enhancing FHS's digital presence and community engagement, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions.


This is an **18-month contract** position with the possibility of extension.


### **Key Responsibilities**


1. **Web Content Management**: 

   - Develop, source, edit, and upload website copy.

   - Ensure the website is updated and aligned with the Faculty’s goals.


2. **Social Media Marketing and Campaign Management**: 

   - Create and manage digital marketing campaigns.

   - Monitor and evaluate community engagement on social media platforms.


3. **Digital Communications**: 

   - Oversee bulk email communications and digital outreach strategies.


4. **Mid-Level Graphic Design Support**: 

   - Assist with multimedia content creation for the Faculty’s digital platforms.


5. **Evaluation and Monitoring**: 

   - Track and assess the digital presence of the Faculty and identify areas for improvement.


### **Qualifications & Experience**


- **Minimum Qualifications**: 

   - A relevant NQF level 6 tertiary qualification (e.g., National Diploma) in web design, digital marketing, or a related field.

   

- **Experience**: 

   - At least 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing/design for digital media, and social media marketing and campaign management.

   - Proven track record in website management and content development.


- **Key Competencies**:

   - Strong knowledge of web usability principles, search engine optimization (SEO), and website information architecture.

   - Experience with social media product development, marketing, and community engagement.

   - High-level proficiency in English writing and content creation.


### **Additional Skills (Advantageous)**


- Experience in digital design and/or architectural maintenance.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

- Oral and written proficiency in additional South African languages.

- Knowledge or experience in the health sector.

- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work as part of a team.


### **Remuneration**


The **annual cost of employment** is R330,335 (R27,528 per month), based on 2025 rates.
