**Position:** Artisan Qualified Auto Electrician  

**Location:** Thabazimbi, South Africa  

**Reporting to:** Maintenance Supervisor  


Are you a skilled Auto Electrician with a passion for diagnosing and repairing complex automotive systems? Phoenix Slag Services of South Africa is seeking an experienced Artisan Qualified Auto Electrician to join our Thabazimbi team. This opportunity offers you the chance to work with industry-leading equipment and further your expertise in auto electrical maintenance and repair.


### **Job Purpose Overview**

The role of the Artisan Qualified Auto Electrician involves performing essential preventative maintenance and addressing breakdowns on both mobile and static equipment. This is a key position to ensure the seamless operation of Phoenix Slag Services' machinery, contributing to optimal performance and safety on-site.


### **Key Responsibilities**

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


- Conducting preventative maintenance on mobile and static equipment.

- Executing breakdown repairs, fault-finding, and equipment rebuilds.

- Managing spare parts orders for mobile and static equipment during shift operations.

- Performing pre-service checklists and inspections.

- Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams.


### **Core Skills and Requirements**


Candidates should possess the following skills:


- **Diagnostic Skills:** Ability to diagnose electrical malfunctions within automotive systems.

- **Problem-Solving:** Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for complex problem-solving.

- **Installation Proficiency:** Expertise in installing electrical systems and understanding electrical wiring fundamentals.

- **Safety Knowledge:** Adherence to safety protocols in line with the Mine Health & Safety Act.


### **Minimum Qualifications & Experience**

To qualify, candidates must have:


- A **Red-Seal Trade Test Certificate** as an Auto Electrician.

- **NTC3 or Grade 12** (Senior Certificate).

- A **valid Code 08 driver’s license**.

- At least **5+ years of experience** as an Auto Electrician (excluding training periods).

- **CAT ET and SIS** experience, along with knowledge in:

  - CAT Electronic Engine

  - CAT Hydraulic Electronic

  - CAT Powertrain Electronic

  - Bell Electrical Electronic systems

  - Bell Hydraulic Electronic Control


### **Additional Responsibilities**

- Conducting electrical diagnostic tests and repairs on various heavy-duty equipment.

- Installing and testing new electrical systems, including headlight alignment.

- Reporting unsafe or critical conditions and ensuring workshop tools and equipment are secure.

- Diagnosing and repairing vehicle starting, charging systems, and air conditioners.


### **Medical and Psychomotor Requirements**

As part of our safety standards, candidates must be declared medically fit, including passing the RFA and Psychomotor Dover tests.
