**About the Programme:**

The Bureau for Economic Research (BER) at Stellenbosch University, in partnership with the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), invites applications for the 2025 Economist Internship Programme. This prestigious programme aims to provide practical training to qualified graduates, enabling them to develop the skills necessary to function as economists in both the private and public sectors.


**Objective:**

The primary objective of the programme is to offer hands-on experience in business-oriented macroeconomic analysis. Successful candidates will work alongside BER economists, gaining valuable insights and expertise over the course of the year.


**Employment Opportunity:**

Successful candidates will be full-time employees of the SARB during the internship. They will spend the year from January 2025 to December 2025 training at the BER in Stellenbosch, receiving a competitive salary throughout this period.


**Eligibility Criteria:**

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

- Be a South African citizen.

- Hold an Honours or Master's degree in Economics (by January 2025) with a focus on macroeconomics at the postgraduate level.

- Be fluent in English.

- Possess excellent communication and writing skills.


**Application Process:**

Interested candidates must apply online by **28 June 2024 (9am)**. The application process includes interviews scheduled for July and August.


**Selection Process:**

Shortlisted candidates will undergo psychometric assessments, reference checks, and security clearance as part of the selection process. The SARB is committed to diversifying its workforce, and suitable candidates will be selected based on this commitment.
